Storyline

The King of Bohemia engages Holmes to recover an indiscreet photograph of himself with a beautiful opera singer, Irene Adler.

Even though Holmes discovered the clever hiding place of the photograph, he was found out by Adler before he could retrieve it. She took counter-measures and he failed in his mission.

Holmes found his match.

2. Reading of the original story by Ruth Golding

A LibriVox audio recording by Ruth Golding. Length: 1 hour 6 minutes.

3. Reading of the original story by Greg Wagland

A Magpie Audio recording by Greg Wagland, one of my favourite readers. Length: 50 minutes.

4. Reading of the original story with subtitles

This reading is good for someone learning English. They can listen and follow the subtitles at the same time. Length: 57 minutes.

5. Reading of the original story with rolling text

I personally think the rolling text does not have enough breathing space. If you lose your position, it is hard to find it again. Other than that, the narration is clear and crisp. Length: 50 minutes.

6. Reading of the original story by an American

The American accent here is fairly strong. Length: 58 minutes.

7. BBC Radio Drama starring Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson

This radio drama was produced in 1954 by BBC and ABC. It has music and multiple voice actors, and 2 theatre giants. An impressive production. Length: 26 minutes.
