New Creation Church Theme of the Year 2021 is The Year of Hazon Vision. Pray for the eyes of my heart to be enlightened to receive wisdom and revelation.
Every year, the church starts the new year with a new theme. A focus for the year for the entire church. The vision is unveiled during Vision Sunday, the first Sunday service of the year.
It is an annual event that I looked forward to. Last year’s vision was Jesus is the Lord of Time and Space. How apt and timely it was as we cope with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Theme of the year 2021 is the Year of Hazon Vision.
Hazon means “vision” in Hebrew.
The key passages are Acts 10 and Ephesians 1:17-18
Acts 10 tells the story of Peter’s vision of God telling him to eat all kinds of four-footed animals including reptiles and birds. The vision led him to accept that God wanted the Cornelius household to be saved even though they are non-Jews.
Cornelius also received a vision to send for Peter so that he and his household may hear the good news and receive salvation.
Ephesians 1:17-18 is Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian believers that they receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation of Jesus. That the eyes of their hearts enlightened or opened. The eyes of the heart to see the hope, riches, glory and inheritance that belong to the saints.
These 2 verses remind me of a worship song called “Open the Eyes of My Heart” written by Paul Baloche and first performed by Michael W Smith.
