I don’t even remember when I first heard Your Steadfast Love. But I recall numerous times when the music and lyrics rose up in my spirit and I quietly worship God with it.
It was written in the 1970s by Ted Sandquist and it is based on Psalm 36:5-10,
Your loving kindness, Yahweh, is in the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God.
Your judgments are like a great deep.
Yahweh, you preserve man and animal.
7 How precious is your loving kindness, God!
The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of your house.
You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
9 For with you is the spring of life.
In your light we will see light.
10 Oh continue your loving kindness to those who know you,
your righteousness to the upright in heart.

Isn’t it comforting to know and experience the steadfastness of God’s love in our lives especially when the storms rage around us?
God use many imagery in this psalm to help us understand His steadfast love and provision.
Wings where we can take refuge and enjoy the coolness of their shadow. House where we can dwell and find satisfaction. River where we can drink to quench our thirst and find joy. Spring of life where death is far away. Light that light our paths.
I find Don Moen’s rendition to be the most anointed.
